The picture was taken of an altar stone (early 3rd century AD) displayed in the LVR Rheinisches LandesMuseum Bonn. The shaft of the depicted altar contains a crescent-like niche for lamps. The Mithraeum Bonn was an ancient temple in Bonn (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). The sanctuary was dedicated to the romanized god Mithras.

The outlines of the temple are destroyed. The only remaining parts are altar and votive stones, which date from the early 3rd century AD.

The altar and votive stones are displayed in the LVR Rheinisches LandesMuseum Bonn.
