Barrow Cemetery in Møre og Romsdal.
Close to the sea at Malefeten is a huge iron age burial cemetery. The cemetery consists mostly of round cairns. There is probably around 100 cairns in this extensive burial cemetery, but around 34 are easy to see because of the vegetation and the size.

The local highway pass straight trough the cemetery with most of the cairns on the coast/north side of the road. An unknown number of cairns have probably been destroyed by the construction of the highway.

There are two large round cairns on top of a hill to the south of the road. They are believed to be older than the rest of the cairns, from the bronze age (1000BC), They are heavily overgrown with trees and was difficult to photograph. They are around 18-20 metres in diameter and around 2 metres in height. Both have huge craters on top.

Most of the barrow are at the north side of the road. Here is four beautifully preserver round cairns, around 12-15 metres in diameter and 1,5 to 2,5 metres in height. They are surrounded by other small barrows, around 5-8 metres in diameter. They don't have much vegetation on them and most of them have no vegetation on top. But the largest ones are the easiest visible from the road. Many barrows are also inside a tight brush forest to the south of the road but are very difficult to find. All these cairns are probably from early iron age, around 400-600AD. From the cemetery there is also a very beautiful view over the sea.
