The ancient city of Emder contains many mysteries. Found it was according to information from local residents and from the legends of valiant Emder's heroes, in 1974, 70 kilometers south of Nyagan on the high promontory of the River Endyr. Archaeologists have named the site of ancient settlement with a link to the geography of Endyrskoye-I. As it turned out later, this was the lost capital of the Emder princedom.

It was a large and famous settlement. People lived here also during the Bronze Age. In total, there were found nine fortified settlements and fortified settlements, as well as several necropolises.

Two of them relate directly to the medieval Emder, that is, the residents of the capital city found the last refuge here.

Emder himself, by the standards of that era, is a serious military and political center, structurally entering to a larger Kodsko princedom.

Despite the years of field work, the study of this territory is far from complete.

A few years ago a project appeared on the creation of a historical-archeological open-air museum near Nyagan, in the territory of which it was planned to restore the medieval fortress town of Emder in full size.
