The Museum für Ur- und Ortsgeschichte is located at the urban park of the city of Bottrop (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). It is part of a museum complex called Quadrat Bottrop, which also includes the art museums Josef Albers Museum, Studio-Galerie and Moderne Galerie. It was opened in 1976 as local history museum and can be visited in its current form since 2013.

The Museum für Ur- und Ortsgeschichte consists of two major parts. The left wing of the modern building houses the Ice Age Hall, which exhibits the bones several prehistoric animals found in the near surrounding. This collection includes e.g. skeletons of mammoths, cave bears and of a Woolly rhinoceros. The second part of the exhibition is located in the old villa, which is directly accessible from the new building. This part displays several important finds discovered in Bottrop from the Neolithic period to modern day. This includes stone tools from the Neolithic settlements in Bottrop and urns from the Bronze Age cemetery Südring(Donnerberg).
