BolshieBoris visited on 10th Sep 2008 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 3 Access: 5 The Little San Bernardino Pass goes straight through it across the France/Italy border which it also straddles. Very large circle with small-ish stones. Tank traps and border installations detract somewhat from the ambience, but worth a visit for the drive alone!

The remains of a 72 metre diameter stone circle, at the top of the Piccolo San Bernardo Pass, right on the border between France and Italy.

Despite having the road go right through the middle of the circle, there are still 46 stones remaining standing.

Note: We deliberately have two pages for this site. This is the Italian version of the French Col du Petit Saint-Bernard Cromlech site page, as it is partially sited in both countries.

Note: The Tour-de-France will ride right through the centre of this stone circle today, situated at the top of the Little St-Bernard pass.

Took the afternoon of 27-10-07 out to drive here from foosball tournament at St Vincent, awesome mountain hairpin roads to get there but well worth the drive/petrol for the views alone - got lucky with the weather!!. Huge circle but very small stones (reminiscent of Barbrook III), straddling both the road and the France/Italy border. Very peaceful and evocative location, with wartime fortifications suggesting this patch of land to have been disputed for millennia, from Hannibal to Hitler. Border crossing is unmanned, and ample parking space available on the French side of the border. There were a couple of cafes etc which were closed, but might be open during the summer.
