Borken-Südwest is the name for an Iron Age settlement in Borken (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). The settlement dates from the La Tene period (ca. 2nd – 1st century BC).
The outlines of 10 houses were discovered. They all were 6.5 m broad and 15-20 m long. They had two opposed entrances in the middle part of the north and south side, respectively. Post-holes within the house outlines suggest that the interior of the houses was probably divided in two rooms.
Two pentagonal enclosures (15 square metres) were found, that could have been used for animals or as gardens.
While only few finds were made of glass or metal, several different types of oven ware were discovered. An interesting find was the collection of 18 Maas-Eier-stones, that could have been used as toys.
The corresponding cemetery as found near the south side of the settlement.
Today, nothing can be see anymore at the original site above the ground.
