The cult stone has some enigmatic scrape lines for unknown reasons.
The local tradition reports that the inhabitants of the medieval Kaiserswerth were in constant fear of the stone, so that the nearby St. Georg's Church was built especially for protection against this symbol of paganism.
It's also reported that condemned criminals were pushed towards the stone before their execution.
