Cairn in Vest-Agder
The obmundrøysa cairn is located on a small hilltop in a rocky coastal landscape. The area is more or less flat and the cairn can be seen from a long distance despite the damage.
The cairn is 23 metres in diameter and around 1 metre in height. The outer stones are a little larger than the ones inside and they make up a clear round shape. The inside of the cairn is destroyed and some grass is growing in the middle so the cairn today looks more like a crater than a cairn. Close to the cairn there are other remains of stone heaps that could be remains from cairns. Traditions say that there was once 14 cairns oriented on a line going east to west but no remains of the other cairns can be seen today.
The name Ogmundrøysa comes from a runestone called Skollvoll runestone that is believed to have been once located in this cairn but later removed and used as a bridge over a small river. The inscription was interpreted to mean "Rannveig erected this stone in memory of Ogmund Ravnsoon, her husband. Skog carved these runes." I could not find more information about where this runestone is located today.
