Cairn in Hordaland
The Vikingnes area has several large and beautiful bronze age and iron age barrow cairns. When I visited the site I was able to find one huge and beautiful round cairn. This cairn is located close to an old hotel overlooking the sea. It has a very pretty shape and does not seems to have been disturbed.

The cairn is 18 metres in diameter and around 2 metres in height. It is partly overgrown with moss and surrounded by large trees. It is located on top of the edge of a ridge overlooking the sea. It is a steep fall to the south of the cairn and the cairn is at the edge of the cliff. It would have been a beautiful view over the Hardanger fjord without the trees blocking some of the view! This cairn and the other cairns to the west is believed to be from the bronze age, around 1800-1200BC.
