The current location only shows the village centre, can you locate this stone for us?

A bit of detective work and we find the following.
Google Chignin menhir and we get "10 May 2014 — Dernièrement lors du défrichage de parcelles au lieu-dit Les Cailles sur la commune de Chignin et en vue d'une mise en œuvre de plantation ..."
Opening the link gives a nice picture, but no words come up with the page (not on my laptop anyway.
Looking on the ign geoportail link at the top of the page (2nd right blue aeroplane icon), and with ign classic map selection we can find that the locality (lieu-dit) Les Cailles is south of Chignin central, just west of Tormery.
Now to use Google streetview, and unfortunately no coverage of the exact area to "drive round" and find the stone. But we can use it as best as possible to find a view which sort of matches the hilltops on the horizon while looking north (look at the shadows) with the picture on the sitepage.
Also looking at the picture from the Le Dauphine article, we see that there is a bit of a hillside to the right of the stone. This can be seen in the aerial views at Les Cailles.
Open Zoom Earth (4th from right blue aeroplane icon), and move it so the cross hatch matches the selected place and we get a possible latitude and longitude as 45.5168, 6.0124.
Unfortunately, nothing shows on the aerial views, but I am pretty sure its about there!
A good way to spend half an hour on a cold foggy morning. Now if only I could somehow zap myself out there to check!

I'm guessing it might be on this gravel road:

There's the railway, the correct hills in the far background and local topography looks similar since the stone is next to a slope in this photo.

    Later...
Yes, it's along there. Viewed from the main road on the other side of the railway. In front of that tree.

    Street view.
    I've updated the position.

Ah, yes indeed. I guessed the wrong end of that gravel road! Here it is seen from the west side of the level crossing over the railway

but move forwards to the east side, and the stone and vineyard disappear as we go back in time!

Hello,

This stone was dug up during the work of the vine, it was then positioned like that.
This information comes from the mayor of the municipality.

I've just read this, good one. My puzzlement at Google street views makes sense now. The countryside can change quite a bit in 10 years - a whole new vineyard planted.
