Fort in Fars Province Iran

Tall-e Takht is a stone fort a kilometre north east from Pasagardae. It is also known as Takht-e Soleyman. Built on a natural hill this 6000 square metre fort is constructed of mud brick with a fine stone base. This fine dressed stone base was constructed by Cyrus the Great (559 - 529 BC) and is thought to be most likely a platform for a palace. Darius the Great added to the site to create a fort. The site overlooks the plains of Pasagardae and Cyrus the Great's palace complex to the south west. You access the site at the end of the road from Cyrus The Great's tomb once past Pasagardae itself. It is a steep climb up to the summit, but well worth it for the commanding views.
