Marabin Fire temple
Marabin Fire temple submitted by KiwiBetsy : This temple is supposed to date back to the time of Artaxerxes who reigned from 465 until 425BC. It is in fairly good condition and is known locally as Atash Gah or Atash Kadah. It sits on top of a small hill a couple of miles outside Isfahan. A track leads up to the structure and provides a fairly strenuous climb especially in the heat of the day. The ruins of other buildings also sit on the slop... (Vote or comment on this photo)
Ancient Temple in Isfahan. The photograph opposite is of the Fortress's Warning Beacon Tower which dominates the horizon from the entrance to the site. The actual fire temple buildings were square and are to the side of this tower.

The prophet of Zoroastrianism is Zoroaster, or Zarathustra, who most scholars say lived around 1000BC. However I have seen elsewhere the date of 6000BC claimed. Fire was sacred to the Zoroastrians hence their fire temples.
