The Bloedsteen (bloodstone) is a large erratic in Ede.
Legend has it a ghost (Het Witte Wief) is haunting this site. The ghost is the daughter of the seventh lord of Kernhem Castle. She fell in love with a knight who asked her to wait for him to return from battle. He never returned and she died of grief. Since then she haunts the site hoping to catch a glimpse of her love. Allegedly she has been seen many times over the last centuries.
The stone features in the "Suske en Wiske" comic #227, "Het Witte Wief", which also features the ghost. (English translations of "Suske en Wiske" have been published in three incarnations. The first was in the U.S., under the name of Willy and Wanda. It was then published in the UK in the 1990s named Bob and Bobette. The final print run was in the UK by the title Spike and Suzy.)
There are claims that the stone was used in the ancient past as an altar though no direct evidence for this has been found.
