Standing Stone (Menhir) in Rogaland
This beautiful standing stone called "Resastaven" is located only 1 metre away from a country road. The name "Resastaven" may refer to the word Rese or Rise which means troll or giant. It might have a similar local tale as the Guddalen standing stone.
The standing stone is long and slender. It is 4 metres in height, around 50 to 30cm wide. It has smooth sides and a flat top. The stone was previously located around 3 metres to the east, it was tilting a lot. In 1925 it was moved and placed in the new location.
The area around the stone is a flat grazing ground overgrown with only short grass. The stone is easily visible from far away. There is said to have been two round barrows close to the stone, there are no remains from these barrows.
