Standing Stone (Menhir) in Hordaland
The standing stone is located just a few metres away from a local dirt road in the middle of a large flat field that once was a military shooting range. The stone was destroyed in 1942 when it was used for target practice by german troops that at that time occupied the area. After ww2 norwegian soldiers repaired the stone with steel flat bars and also put up a plack telling about their repair and reerecting of the stone at its original place.
The stone is made of a light coloured type of stone and some moss grown. It is 4 metres in height, around 80cm wide and around 30cm thick. It is visible from a far distance in the flat field.
