Qobu submitted by kurgan : Qobu Circular Rock Carving. This curious carving comprised 18 perimeter cup marks in an almost complete circle and four internal cup marks arranged in a letter ‘C’ shape. An external larger cup mark orients the figure to the south east. The carving sits on top of a well preserved rock shelter. I suspect the carving may well have a calendric function perhaps to do with lunar cycles. Comment... (Vote or comment on this photo)

Qobu
Qobu submitted by kurgan : Stone Age Vandalism. The boulder shown is one of three in the area to the south of Baku that shows, in this case a large cup a mark or bullaun that has been split in two. It would appear that these large stones have been deliberately cleaved to destroy theme from whatever use they were used for. The cleaving process seems to involve cutting three aligned grooves then I assume either splitti... (Vote or comment on this photo)
