Ancient Village or Settlement in Iraq

Situated in the Diyala Valley north-east of Sumeria proper, Eshnunna nonetheless belonged securely the Sumerian culture. An American team led by Henri Frankfort started to excavate the remains of the ancient city preserved in the mound of Tell Asmar in the 1930s.
