The Metsamor bronze-age (roughly 4,000 to 3,000 BCE) archaeological complex comprises several rows of menhirs (Vischaps), a bronze-age settlement and cup & ring stones. It is interpreted as an observatory.

The site is close to Armenia´s only nuclear power plant.

Additional information from Drew Parsons September 2016: To reach the site drive west from Yerevan on the M5 highway. Continue past the town of Vagharshapat on the bypass. Approximately 4 kilometres after leaving the town boundary of Vagharshapat see a turning on the left (south) side of the M5 signposted to Taronik village. Drive to the centre of the Taronik village and turn right. Follow this road west to the village boundary. Now turn hard left along an earth road (heading due south) for 500 metres. The earthen lane leading to the museum and site is on your right (heading west). More information at: http://www.armeniapast.com/prehistory/metsamor/
