Grotte Scladina
Adresse : Rue Fond des Vaux 339 d, Sclayn (Andenne)
Découverte en 1971, et fouillée sans interruption depuis lors.
Scladina ne se visite pas pour l'ampleur de ses salles ni pour leur décoration de stalactites etc. Elle trouve tout son intérêt dans les visites guidées par un archéologue en charge des fouilles, visites passionnantes même sans grandes connaissances préalables -- mais de toute évidence préférables.
◄ ◄ ◄ La découverte la plus sensationelle, à tout le moins pour le visiteur non spécialisé, est celle de la mâchoire inférieure et d'une partie de la mâchoire supérieure d'un enfant de huit ans, daté de 90000 BC ± 25000 ans.
Il s'agit de la plus importante découverte de fossiles néandertaliens en Belgique depuis celle de Spy en 1886.
La grotte s'accompagne d'un petit musée, à visiter séparément.
