Dolmen of Duisburg
Dolmen of Duisburg submitted by Alta-Falisa : Where many paths converge... Park of Tervueren. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The so-called Dolmen van Duisburg.
In reality, it is a Polishing Stone
(Polijststeen in Dutch, Polissoir in French).

Three pieces of a nearly complete circular slab (only about 60° of the whole circle is missing). Altogether, the 3 pieces weight close to 6000 kg. The diameter of the slab is about 2,45 m.
Unearthed in May 1883 when ploughing a field in the nearby village of Duisburg.

They are laid exactly at the convergence of 7 paths in the Woods of the Park of Tervueren (hence the name of this spot : "Zevenster" : "Seven-branch star"). Easy access by foot (ca. 1500 m) from the Museum of Central Africa. Museum and Park were created at the beginning of the 20th century. Abundance of car parks all around the domain, a very popular "Sunday-afternoon" destination.

Photo taken early March 2014.
