Ancient Temple in Bourgogne:Côte-d'Or (21)

In the Châtillonnais forest between St. Germain-le-Rocheux and Villiers-le-Duc under a shed.

The site represents local spiritual activity from the end of the Iron Age in the 2nd century BCE to the Gallo-Roman period in the 2nd Centry CE. The fanum is enclosed by its wall and features a group of buildings once used as shops. The archeological artifacts have been taken to the Musee du Chatillonais. The stone votive statues of Gallo Roman gods cover the style from the erlier statue menhir to the classical statues.
A guided tour can also be organised according to a local website, but access is free.
