The "Zeupire" of Gozée is now considered as a "possible Standing Stone" (menhir).

The discovery and recognition of this Stone is recent.
The famous, and accurate, "Carte de Ferraris" (1770-1778) does not mention any stone on Folio 82 (Thuin).
An ancient (early 19th c.) cadastral map allows to ascertain the presence of the "Zeupire" where it stands today. This map also shows a second slab, about 200 m to its North ; it has been destroyed in 1870 to pave a road, along with a third one which no document allows to locate.
The Zeupire, still deeply buried by then, is first identified in 1880, investigated in 1887, acquired by the State in 1888, and finally excavated and re-erected in 1895-1898 to make it look like Brunehault -- and, indeed, many other such stones discovered later.
Today, the intentional character in the original erection of the stone is recognised but the works of 1895-1898 have rendered impossible any datation.
