Kul-Oba

Large barrow, locally known as a kurgan, with a burial of a Greek-influenced Scythian royal. Dates vary in different sources, some 400 to 350 BC, others 600 to 400 BC. Two other people were also buried here.

A large number of finds were taken from the barrow, many of gold. Some were stolen, but many are on display in the Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg.

The inner chamber is built of seven courses of vertical stones, with twelve upper courses corbelled to form a vaulted dome.
