Ancient Temple in Syria
Temples of Ancient Bronze age Canaanite City.
Ugarit had a temple of Baal, a weather and storm God, as well as a temple of dagan, an agriculture god. The temple of Baal is in slightly better condition. Traders would donate their ship anchor after a succesful trading mission.
The priests had tombs behind the temple.
Ugarit controled the trade between Crete and Cyprus to Mesopotamia as well as to Egypt and the Hittites.
Ugarit was destroyed in 1185 BCE by an invasion of the Sea People and never recovered.
