Ancient Temple in Lower Egypt (North)
Until the early 19th Century CE, there was a limestone Ptolemeian Temple with 18 columns dedicated to the god Anty. Unfortunately, the temples were largely washed away by floods and the remaining stones were then taken away to built the palace of Ibrahim Pasha in Asyut in the recent past.
At the eastern edge of the desert, there is a smaller mudbrick New Kingdom Temple built over an earlier intermediate period temple.
