Ancient Village or Settlement in Turkey, Konya Province

Tell in the middle of Konya near a mosque and the remains of a Celjuk (turkish) Palace. Though the Ankara Museum has Hittite era finds from a location called Emirgazi, it is unlikely that there will be furher excavations at this exact location anytime soon as this is a very reliously conservative town. Source indicate the town was inhabited from 3000 BCE by the Hatti and then became part of the Hittite empire. Under the Phrygians, the town was called Iconium. Later it came under the Control of the Persians and was later ruled by the Greeks and the Romans.
