Relics of a 5,000-year-old port found in southern Turkey by davidmorgan on Tuesday, 27 September 2011
(User Info | Send a Message)
Diving off Seki village of Alanya, underwater archaeologists found the place of the port of Syedra Ancient City.

Underwater archaeologist Hakan Oniz from Eastern Mediterranean University told A.A on Wednesday that the port was 5,000 years old, and they found architectural relics belonging to Roman period and Bronze Age.

We have learned that people made fishery and navigation in the region since Bronze Age, he added.

Syedra is divided into two parts; the harbor area from where all supplies were transported into the countryside and the inner city. The inner city is situated 240 meters above sea level.
