Pyramid in Lower Egypt (North)

Senusert II was the 4th Pharao of the 12th Dynasty. His Pyramid lies just north of the small town of Al Lahoun in an area also known as El-Lischt from when the capital was transfered to the region.

It is the most southerly of the ones we were able to research at this time.

The Pyramid is unusual as it it consists of a core of limestone blocks which create a frame. Mud bicks are built around and within this. Some casing survives.

There is a series of 9 mastabas for his children and wife on the North side. The local officials refer to a series of passages under the complex.
