Ancient Settlement in Antalya Province, Turkey

The ancient city of Olympos was founded in the Hellenistic period. It becam one of the leading cities of the Lycian Federation. In the 1st century BCE, Olympos was invaded and settled by Cilician pirates. The main god of the City was Hephaestus the god of blacksmiths and fire. The ancient site of Chimaera lies nearby.
