Belgium's largest surviving standing stone at 4.95m tall. Really worth a visit especially at night, as it is lit up. Historically the most important megalith of the region.

Ancient maps (see below) figure it, being an unmistakable landmark. Several drawings and etchings, a few of them being reproduced underneath, also attest of its importance. Finally, nearly all its surface is covered by an abundance of inscriptions (see close-up below).

Brunehault
Brunehault submitted by Alta-Falisa : Pierre Brunehault, in October 2012. Signposted along road N.507 (Rue de Tournai), but the signpost is oriented for people coming from the North. In the middle of fields (on the photo, you can see a heap of beetroots...), therefore in a very calm area. Over the years, many people have engraved inscriptions in the stone. Brunehault
Brunehault submitted by Buttonboy : This one is really worth the visit if in the area. It is lit at night as there is an ancient crossroads where it stands.

Brunehault
Brunehault submitted by Alta-Falisa : I leave it to you to assess when the photo was taken, to be judged by the style of the hair, dress and the hats. More important, it was still fashionable to be immortalized on a postcard while engraving names on the stone. I might go there one of these days to see what he wrote.
