alchemille visited on 24th Jun 2015 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 4 Access: 4 Menhir couché du Puy de la Poix between Aulnat and Clermont Ferrand. The menhir is laying flat near the top of the little knoll, an ancient volcano from the Oligocene period, there is a ravine of stinky bitumen at the bottom of the knoll, hence the name "la Poix”
It should be noted that in the distant past, this was a marshy area, and the granite has been brought here from at least 7 km away.
