Broch or Nuraghe in Balearic Isles (Mallorca / Majorca)
This site is close to the town of Vilafranca de Bonany, but it belongs to Porreres municipality. There is a single circular talaiot (iron age tower) in a poor state of preservation. The prehistoric building has modern structures attached to its outer walls, that probably hide or destroyed other possible prehistoric rooms. The talaiot itself is 2 metres high and has lost much of the stones that once formed the outer facade, having been substituted by rubble and little rocks from the surrounding sowned fields.
The inner chamber is better preserved. It has a central mediterranean style column (its top is bigger than its base) and a clean zigzagging entrance, although the archaeological soil has been removed years ago due its reuse as a sheepfold.
The talaiot is on private land, but public entrance is alowed when archaeologists are working at the site.
