The ancient settlement of Vroulia is located at the southernmost tip of the island of Rhodes, opposite Prasonisi. It is one of the most important early settlements with an organized urban plan that has been found in Greece.Based mainly on the findings from the burials excavated outside the wall, it dates back to 650 BC.

The location of the settlement was also of military importance as it was the last port of the Aegean area before the open sea of the Eastern Mediterranean, but also the first port for travelers from Cyprus, Phoenicia,Syria or Egypt.
