Possible Standing Stone (Menhir) in Romania

On the top of the Turtudui peak in the Buzau mountains we can find the remains of a once standing menhir with some petroglyphs which have yet to be deciphered.

Legend has it that the menhir was initially placed on an horizontal platform which was destroyed in the 80s.

Hello mfrincu, thanks for all the photos. This doesn't look much like a standing stone to us, nor for The Menhir near Fundul Pesterii http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=45353 to be honest. Where did you hear about these stones?

    Hi Andy,

We were taken there by a local guide which is also a historian at the local museum. She has more than 20 years of experience in the area. She called the stones menhirs. They are all monoliths.

Thanks, they look different to Western European menhirs. I think it's the sharp edges that make me think they are not prehistoric. Still interesting though, thanks for sending them.
