mfrincu visited on 20th Aug 2015 - their rating: Cond: -1 Amb: 3 Access: 4 The place is on the shores of the Cernica lake. I found it by following a 1km dirt road. Park the car at the last house and follow the dirt road heading towards the lake. Turn left where it splits and keep looking for the cross on the right. Even if you miss it you are in the right place as the burial place covered the entire area.

Cernica neolithic tombs
Cernica neolithic tombs submitted by mfrincu : Modern cross marking the place of the 350+ neolithic tombs discovered at Cernica. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Over 350 tombs were discovered on the shores of the Cernica lake about 1km NE from the village of Caldararu.

The orientation of the skeletons was studied and found to be aligned with the sunrise. 96 percent of the skeletons were aligned at an azimuth between the winter and summer solstices.

The tombs were discovered in the 60s and are about 6000 years old. A cross is the only sign of this ancient burial place.
