Zeus' Cave
Zeus' Cave submitted by Bjorn : Nearly there... (Vote or comment on this photo)
Cave in Naxos. According to Greek mythology Zeus was born and raised in this cave on Mount Zas (Zeus), which rises 1000 metres /3,280 feet above the sea level.

The journey up the mountain is steep and dangerous. Lots of loose rubble to slip on, so be careful.

Just before you get there you pass the Aria well, where you can get a well-deserved drink of water.

Inside the cave it is pitch black for a few minutes, before your eyes adjust from the blinding sun light outside, so wait for a while before you move carefully forward in the cave. You don't want to disappear down a hole, do you?

Of course the Cretans claim Zeus was born there.
