Cup and Ring marks / Rock Art in Nubia
Neolithic cave paintings in the western Gilf Kebir mountains of the western desert of Egypt, near the Libyan border. The "cave of the swimmers" is the most famous. There are more in the area. The find proved that once, before approximately 3500 BCE, the Sahara was fertile.
Dicovered by the legendary Hungarian Count Ladislaus E. Almassy, also know as the English Patient from the movie, who explored and mapped the western desert between WWI and WWII.
