Transfardalen submitted by kenntha88 : The rock outcrop that makes the hollow. it was really hard to find the site in the tight forest. (Vote or comment on this photo)
This site consists of a huge natural outcrop in the mountain forming an open space under it, and creates a "roof". There have been found artifacts that show that this site has probably been used as a settlement for people in later stone age.

But what makes this place really interesting is that the rock wall under the "roof" contains a number of rock paintings, probably made in later stone age.

They are hard to see, just some small pictures can be made out, except from a painting of a human.

It is really hard to find this place, it is in a tight leaf forest. And even when I knew it was a large rock wall, I didnt find it until I was accidentally on top of it!

Without the thick forest it would have been a beautiful view over the sea and the Alta fjord.

Note: Finnmark county
