Cup and Ring marks / Rock Art in Libya
Series of caves and cliff faces with neolithic rock art and paintings.
Discovered by the legendary Hungarian Count Ladislaus E. Almassy, also known as the English Patient from the Hollywood film, who mapped and explored the egyptian Western desert between WWI and WWII.
His discoveries proved the Sahara once, between the end of the ice age and ca 3500 BCE, had adequate water resources to maintain a nomadic human population.
Parts of the Jebel Uwenat extend into Egypt and Sudan.
