Ancient Village or Settlement in Attica/Central Greece

The Velatouri hill is the centre of a Mycenaean settlement and the later ancient deme of Thorikos. An unusual 6th-4th century BCE theatre, parts of the settlement, some of the metal-working establishments, a 4th century BCE square tower, the cemeteries and the sanctuary of Demeter and Kore are Preserved. The ancient theatre of Thorikos is noteworth for its unusual ellipsidal plan. The first excavations were carried out in 1820.
