bat400 visited on 11th Jun 2011 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 4 Access: 5 Describes finds from the Marathon area from Neolithic through the Classical Era. A pamphlet is available (free) that shows surrounding ancient sites and how to get to them.
Very pleasant and air conditioned recently built €15 million museum, probably just in time for the 2004 CE Olympics.
The museum is also the site for the Tumulus of the Plataeans and the Vranas Middle Helladic Graves and also contains the original remains of the Trophy of the Athenians as well as the original statues from the Sanctuary of the Egyptians.
