New Acropolis Museum
New Acropolis Museum submitted by AlexHunger : The top floor, is designed to take the Elgin marbles, should they ever be returned by the British Museum. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Museum in Attica.
Houses various art and artifacts found on the Acropolis, most of them moved from the old Acropolis Museum.

The modern building rises over and incorporates the (generally) Roman era finds excavated as the museum was built.
The Greek authorities and architects have created a space at the top of the building which would accommodate the Elgin marbles where they ever to be returned from the British Museum.

The Acropolis Museum completes major digitization program by Andy B on Monday, 25 January 2021
(User Info | Send a Message)
The Acropolis Museum has completed a major digitization program, with all of its exhibits now accessible from anywhere in the world.

The doors of Greece’s museums may still be shut to the public due to the countrywide lockdown, but that hasn’t stopped the Acropolis Museum from making its collections and research more accessible than ever.

The popular museum has just announced the completion of a sweeping digitization program; now with only an internet connection, anyone in the world can explore the myriad archaeological finds from Athens’ Sacred Rock in stunning detail.

The newly unveiled Digital Acropolis Museum http://www.theacropolismuseum.gr/en/digital-museum showcases exhibits in high definition, alongside a startling array of multimedia applications, including games, videos, and 3D images. It is also the first museum in Greece to go fully digital, leading the way for other Greek institutions that will hopefully soon follow in its footsteps.
