bat400 saw from a distance on 12th May 2017 - their rating: Cond: 2 Access: 3 We circled the site, admiring the walls and gateways. If anything, the site is more overgrown in 2017 than when davidmorgan visited in 1993.

Mycenaean hillfort of about 3 km circumference. The fort dates back to the 14-13th century BCE and was originally surrounded by Lake Kopaida. The 5 metre thick walls are only interrupted by 4 gates, the most accessible of which are on the north east and south east side. There is an other entrance near the abandoned ticket office on the west side, which looks more treacherous. Although a Mycenaean palace with two Megaron halls was uncovered in the 19th century, the site is largely overgrown with thorny shrubbery and doesn't rate highly as a tourist attraction.
