Ancient Temple in Peloponnese Peninsula

The Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus was a famous healing centre of the ancient world. The cult dates back to the 6th century BCE. Asklepios was the most important healer god of antiquity. There is a temple and altar of Asklepios, a Tholos, and the Abaton. Later, more secular buildings, such as the theatre, the Ceremonial Hestiatoreion, the baths and the Palaestra were added. The Asklepieion survived until the end of antiquity, having experienced a second heyday in the 2nd century CE.
