Cave or Rock Shelter in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Cocev Kamen is a hilltop cave site, believed to have been used as a prehistoric observatory or temple for perhaps sacrificial rituals and which is decorated with rock art.

There were two rows of rock seats engraved under the cave, which joined by the platform formed what looks like an early theater. Bones discovered near the cave indicate the it was used in the Paleolithic. There is a further smaller natural cave above the paleolithic cave that was used the Bronze Age for apparent spirituals activities.

Note: NASA say Cocev Kamen is ancient observatory, local archaeologists disagree

Re: Cocev Kamen by Anonymous on Wednesday, 23 November 2011
Cocev Kamen was the subject of a report on November 23, 2001 in the Macedonian newspaper Nova Makedonija.

http://www.novamakedonija.com.mk/NewsDetal.asp?vest=112311939356&id=26&prilog=1&setIzdanie=22438

The article quotes a Macedonian archaeologist as saying the site is probably a shrine, but definitely not an observatory.
