Ancient Settlement in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). Heraclea was founded in the 4th century BCE under the Ancient Macedonian empire and was conquered by the Romans two centuries later. It was built on the Via Egnatia, an important trade route in the region.

A well preserved Jewish temple, Portico, Roman baths, and a Roman theater now used for summer concerts and theatre shows all survive in excellent condition.
