Mihintale Temple
Mihintale Temple submitted by PAB : Mihintale Temple. The location where Buddhism was introduced to Sri Lanka in 247 B.C. - a place of real peace, despite the crowds! (Vote or comment on this photo)

Mihintale Temple
Mihintale Temple submitted by PAB : Mihintale Temple - this peak is revered as being the place where Buddhism was 'born' in Sri Lanka with the King becoming a Buddhist in 247 B.C. With the handrail too hot to touch barehanded, and the ground almost at scorching point (and, as at most such sites, no shoes allowed!), it was a memorable climb, but worth doing.
