Museum in Troms

The University Museum on the outskirts of Tromso has several small sections which will be of particular interest to Portal members - as well as some fascinating sections on Sami culture, natural history, geology and the aurora borealis.

In terms of portal-related items, there are exhibits and explanations of rock art in North Norway, as well as a rune stone and several worked stones and carvings.

I note from their website however that opening times are currently (June 2012) curtailed due to public sector industrial action, so worth checking before making a special trip... We were staying nearby so it was a short walk - I would perhaps have been disappointed if we had travelled specially a long way to get there.

Their website is not very illuminating and does not currently do its actual content justice, but it does give information on opening times! Link to website
