Hillfort in Montenegro

Medieval Fort built on location of ancient Ilyrian Hillfort. A continuation of the hillforts found in Croatia.

A series of walls and forts surrounds the baroque Unesco heritage site port town on the southernmost Fjord in Europe.

It takes 1250 steps to get up there and the same number to get back down. Apparantly they are vey slippery and the locals avoid going there.

Being in Montenegro I found Kotor is well worth a special trip, hence next day after a guided tour I returned there and made an unhurried 1-hour ascent to St. John castle. It was not so difficult as it could look.
The view from up there was magnificent.
