Pohaturoa is a volcanic cone close to the banks of the Waikato River in the central North Island of New Zealand. 1996 excavations at the summit identified the remains of a pa (Maori hillfort) and 31 whare (houses). The site is located close to the township of Atiamuri on the Waikato River. The attached photos tell more about the site.
